MADE IN THE USA
While the organizer is for oceana, it will accommodate all the contents for Asia as well.... only downside is the box lift! Even without the Asia expansion, it's still a bit too much for me.
Overall fantastic, the pair of organizers reduces the entirety of Wingspan to one box for two players, and two boxes for all content.
The expansion organizer provides a second, 4 slot card tray, 3 small bins and 1 large bin. I have the base game in one card tray, and the three expansions in the other tray. This makes it easy to setup whatever combination of cards we'd like to play with.
You'll need to store 2 player boards to get the box lid to sit level. This is actually perfect, as the Asia expansion includes two additional double sided player boards. Now I have 100% of the game's two player content in a single box.
I'm keeping the 10 player boards (5 base, 5 oceana) plus expansion rulebooks in the oceana box, and I only need to get it down to play with a group.
There's still enough room in the box to keep an assembled birdfeeder, plus one of the card tray slots and the three small bins are still empty. Assuming another expansion adds just cards and tokens, this setup with easily accommodate it.
Finally the European and Asia boxes are storing the duplicate pieces (dice, food, score cards, etc), and I can keep them put away.
The base organizer comfortably houses all materials from the game and both the European and Oceania expansions, all while allowing the box lid to sit as close to flush as possible. This will satisfy the needs of most.
The only people who *might* benefit from this upgrade are those who have purchased all the Meeple Source token upgrades. Even then, you will have to live with the lid resting halfway up the box and the revised internal layout being less secure than the base organizer's layout.
I bought the Wingspan base organizer and the Oceania add-on and the Birdhouse too. As always with Broken Token, they were well designed and easy to put together. The birdhouse is really pretty and so much better than the original paperboard one!
What I'm confused about is why the Oceania organizer is needed. The base game components and Oceania components both fit into the base organizer. Why is there a whole 2nd bird sale piece?
Is it because of the european expansion (which I don't have? Doesn't that just add more bird cards?
My advice? Start with the base organizer and see if it meets your needs, before you buy the Oceania organizer. Get the birdhouse too!
I wanted to love this, but the directions for how to arrange all the components in the box were very confusing, and when I reached out to customer service for clarification, they just resent me the same directions that came with the organizer. There is also too much lid lift in my opinion it’s over an inch! And that doesn’t even include the boards, which have to be stored separately. I found another organizer that actually fits everything with no lid lift and with the ability to store four of the boards in the original box. Broken Token rarely misses (I have more than 10 other organizers from them.), but this one is far below their usual standards.
