Pandemic Compatible Game Crate

A nice work to keep everything together in one box. Solid build and lends itself to customizing the exterior if desired.

First off, the design of this kit is stellar. It is very well thought-out, and holds the game pieces well, with one exception.

I have the main game and 2 of the 3 expansions. The game pawns from each expansion are shaped and sized slightly differently. Due to this, the pawns do not fit well into the storage tray, and the lid will not close. Without the pawns, the clearance between the lid and the tray sides is quite tight, and the locking bumps had to be filed down, and the holes they interface with enlarged in order to properly slide into place.

Assembly is where this kit falls short, and is the reason for 3 stars rather than 5. The parts are laser cut, and in the package appear very crisp and precise, however, each tab has a taper from manufacturing, creating interference between the pieces. In order to assemble, each piece has required hand filing to remove this taper. Due to this, I have hours into assembling the kit, and am not yet finished.

The main crate is all I have left now; both the top and bottom pieces are warped, complicating the assembly. I began the build out of the box with the crate lid, which was a mistake. The clearance between the crate and the main assembly is very close, leaving nearly zero room for error. Given this, I had to break the glued lid apart, and hope I can salvage it for reassembly, hopefully with better clearance this time.

All-in-all, this would be a 5 star kit with better manufacturing to go along with the excellent design of the product.
