This reproduction coin is based on the gold noble coin as issued by Edward III, c. 1346, and honestly, it's a pretty decent replica - certainly excellent for its intended uses. (You can tell it's post-1346 by the small "E" in the center of the cross on the back.) You have the king with his sword and shield commanding the Ship of State on the front, and an ornate cross with fleur-de-lis at each end on back. Even the text on the coin is reasonably close to the original, making this idea for LARP or Hundred Years War-era reenacting use, as well.
Wonderful coins! I took it for Orleans, they fit perfectly. I'm very pre-war))
Great coins. Great for LARP and games. One of the best out there IMHO. Might buy more in the future to add more to my collection.
These coins are a great set - I had not noticed in the pictures, but there is the same coat of arms on the Jumbo, Large, & Medium coins making them seem minted by the same monarch family with the head of the king on the Small coin itself. The Tiny coin does not seem as tied to the set with any theme, but still feels part of the set. Overall the set are distinct in size, color, & weight to make them feel increasing in logical value and appear imperfect as a real coin of that age. Great for English theme games or any Viking theme that has plundered a hoard of these coins.
The Jumbo coin is a nice yellow gold with a king, sword, a shield (with the coat of arms) and a good English ship with on one side and intricate pattern on the reverse. Good symbology on both sides. Overall, my favorite of the set.
